In 2015 the company has been re-branded and upgraded, now offering cPanel web hosting and website builder in one simple shared hosting plan. The “eHost Pro” plan is ideal for beginners, who are looking to start their website but don’t know programming. It is also a good option for advanced users, who want to build a WordPress blog or small business website. The plan comes with lots of features and freebies such as free domain, marketing credits, included premium site builder, plenty of disk space and bandwidth.
Ehost offers a 45-Day money back guarantee, along with a 24/7 premium support and 99.9% uptime guarantee.
Personal Experience with eHost.com
After this quick introduction on eHost.com, now I will share my personal experience with the company. Please read my entire eHost review to find out if this is the hosting company you need.
To truly test eHost’s service I signed up for a hosting account. At first, I was very impressed with the smooth and easy process of purchasing the hosting plan. The activation of the account was almost instant, so I was able to get started in just couple of minutes.
First, I tried out their website builder. I prefer WordPress over any other website builder, but for curiosity I went to create a simple site with this tool. The building process was very easy:
- select the Site Builder tool
- choose a template from the hundreds of free designs
- edit the design and add new elements with the simple drag and drop function
- save and publish my work online
That’s it! So if you have your content ready and know the structure of your web page, you can finish your site in an hour. You can also add as many pages you want, create a blog section, add a contact form to your contact page, insert a map, image gallery, etc. All these without knowing any programming, just with selecting the element and dragging it to the desired position.
I have performed another test, now with creating a WordPress site with eHost’s cPanel plan. The installation of WordPress was very easy also:
- access your cPanel account at eHost
- click on the WordPress icon
- choose the Free WordPress installation option
- fill in your site details (admin email, site title, username)
- click on the installation button and wait few minutes
You are done! After the installation is done, you will receive a confirmation email. This automatic installation will create the database for you and will install the latest WordPress version to your website.

I was very satisfied with how quickly and easily you can start a website with eHost, but I also wanted to test their support. I submitted a ticket regarding a problem that I create intentionally on my WordPress site. They guided me how to fix the issue, however the communication was a bit slow. Got a replay to every ticket I sent, but it took over an hour. So if you are looking for fast support, you should know that eHost’s support is slower than the average.
I also wanted to know eHost’s reliability. So with the help of UptimeRobot , I have been monitoring a website hosted with eHost since October, 2015. Here is a screenshot with the latest uptime results and server performance:
The image shows that in the last 30 days there was no down-time at all, resulting in 100% uptime. The last donwtime was about one minute. The performance of the monitored site is very consistent, having an average 428 milliseconds response time.
To further test the website speed, I went to Pingdom ‘s speed test tool and performed couple of tests to different websites. I randomly choose 3 sites from eHost: simple HTML site, a website built with their site builder and a WordPress site. The following screenshots shows that each website has a very good loading time of under 2 seconds.
Overall eHost is a great hosting company for hosting both personal and business use. Although it offers lots of features, it also has some limitations: there is no upgrade option to a virtual private server. Cron Jobs are also limited to 15 minutes interval. For developers who need those extra, geeky features, eHost might not be the best option. For those who are starting out, or looking for a cheap and reliable solution for their small business site eHost is just perfect.
FAQ’s on eHost.com
In the next part of this eHost review I will give you answers to the most frequent asked questions about eHost’s service, support and other aspects.
Is eHost.com Good for Business?
From my test and experience I would recommend eHost for small and medium business websites. You can host your small WordPress blog or company website without problems. You should note though that for high traffic and high complexity websites eHost might not be the best option. You might need to purchase a VPS or dedicated plan, which eHost does not have at the moment.
Where does eHost Have Their Servers?
eHost owns and operates its own data center, which is located in Houston, Texas, United States.
eHost cPanel or Website Builder
There is a bit of confusion around this topic, so I wanted to clarify by explaining how this works. At eHost you can choose from cPanel hosting or Website Builder. While these two are billed separately, you can only choose one option. If you choose cPanel hosting, you will be able to install WordPress and other scripts. You will be able to create FTP accounts, MySQL databases and use eHost like a regular hosting plan. If you choose to create your site with their builder, you should choose the Website Builder option. You choice is irreversible, so you should pick the plan you need carefully.
